Really shouldn' have taken this photo but I couldn't resisit how stunning the 3 pilgrim shells looked in the stained glass from inside the Church.

Shells are the symbol of the walk to Santiago. In ye olden days pilgrims used to pick up a shell from the Galician coast and bring it back with them. However in modern times virtually noone walks back home so most people have a shell all the way with them although you do get some irritating peopl saying 'you shouldn't carry it til the way back....'
Anyway there are all kinds of shells everywhere, on buildings, signs, poitning out the route and here is a selection of them!
